🎮 Runner 2D – Astragalus amulets: these three games are still early prototypes
Ongoing educational and museum-oriented project around knucklebones/astragali: school-museum activities, science communication and resources for teachers and museums. The mini-games below are experimental interactive extensions, still to be stabilized and scientifically reviewed.
✍️ Write with the bones — Thread & alphabet
A pierced bone can hide a message. Rotate the astragalus, follow the thread, and write the displayed word in the page language.
Historical basis: Aeneas Tacticus describes a 24-hole astragalus, six holes per face, linked to Greek letters. Here, visual aids and English words are an educational adaptation, not an ancient reconstruction.
🎲 Roll the bones — Venus, Canis, Senio…
Throw 4 astragali (faces {1,3,4,6}). Game mode (score) or Oracle (symbolic reading).
